The music game for schools and classes
Hitify Play is a music game you host on the classroom smartboard or projector. Pupils join from any device with a browser, with a code or QR, and play together. No pupil accounts, nothing to install.
Free to try. The teacher who starts the game logs in with an email code, no password. Pupils need no account: they join with a code or QR in their browser.
A song plays through the speakers, nobody sees the year, and the class has to place it in time. In the open modes every pupil plays at once, so a whole class or more can take part and nobody sits waiting for a turn.
It fits a music lesson, a ten minute break from the textbook, the last day before the holidays or a school party. You choose the deck, so you decide which songs your class hears.
Which game for which class?
Party room: Year Rush
Everyone guesses the year at the same moment and the closest guess wins. A whole class or more, no player limit, over in minutes.
Party room: Timeline
Everyone builds on one shared timeline at once, so the whole class argues about the order together. Good for a lesson on decades.
Timeline, one at a time
The classic turn-based version, best for small groups, a reading corner or a student council meeting.
Teacher quick start
- 1
Open a room on the big screen
Go to the host page on your smartboard, projector or teacher laptop, pick a deck and a game, and a room code and QR code appear.
- 2
Pupils join in their browser
Each pupil, or each pair, opens the page on a laptop, Chromebook, tablet or phone and types the code or scans the QR. They choose a nickname. Nothing to install.
- 3
Play from the board
The song plays through the classroom speakers, pupils answer on their own screens, and the board shows the reveal and the scores.
The timeline in one look
A timeline is a row of songs in release order. Pupils hear a new song, never its year, and decide where it fits. Every round is a small lesson in how music changed over the decades.
Which devices work
Any device with a browser
School laptops, Chromebooks, tablets and phones all work. Nothing is installed and nothing needs the school to approve software.
One per pupil or one per pair
Share a device between two pupils when the laptop cart is short or not everyone has a phone. Pairs also talk more about the answer.
Bring your own device
If your school allows pupils to use their own phones, they can join with the QR code. If it does not, use the school devices.
Why it works in a classroom
No accounts for pupils
Pupils only type a code and pick a nickname. No email address, no sign-up, no school login.
Nothing to install
It runs in the browser, so it works on the school laptops and Chromebooks you already have.
A whole class at once
The open game modes have no player limit, so the whole class plays together instead of waiting for a turn.
Prefer real cards?
Make your own card game: paste a playlist, print the PDF at home or order the printed cards.
Frequently asked questions
What devices can pupils use?
Any device with a browser: laptop, Chromebook, tablet or phone. One device per pupil works, and so does one per pair, which is handy when you have a laptop cart or not every pupil has a phone.
Do pupils need an account or to install anything?
No. Pupils type the room code or scan the QR code, pick a nickname and play. Nothing is installed and nobody signs up.
How many pupils can play?
In the open modes there is no player limit, so a whole class or more can play at once. The turn-based Timeline is meant for small groups.
Is it free?
Popular public decks are free to play. A deck made from your own playlist has a hundred free cards. Pupils never pay.
